Rebekah Testar AVONShe began by selling a few lipsticks to make some extra cash.

Now, eight years – and a lot more lipsticks – later, Avon lady Rebekah Testar has sold more than £4million of make- up, perfume and beauty products.

The 39-year-old is the cosmetics giant’s third most successful trader in Britain and has 1,750 staff working for her.

But it was a different story eight years ago, when she was a housewife and her husband Tony was forced to give up his job as a financial consultant due to hypertension and depression.

With Christmas approaching, Mrs Testar was looking for a way of making some extra money and taking her mind off Mr Testar’s illness.

‘When my husband had to stop work I really worried about what we were going to do,’ the mother-of-three said. ‘I was walking to playgroup with my two daughters when I was approached by an Avon representative.

‘I remember thinking that agreeing to take a brochure and arrange a meeting with her was the only way I was going to get on my way.’

She tried to cancel the appointment twice before relenting and going along – but is now very glad that she gave in. Continue reading
